KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 30): The German Embassy in Malaysia today said it was dismayed at the language used by former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in his social media posting on Thursday.

“The order of the day is a de-escalation of words and solidarity with the victims of violence. Germany shares the pain and sorrow of her close partner and friend France,” it said posted on the German Embassy Kuala Lumpur Facebook page today.

On Thursday, Dr Mahathir tweeted that Muslims have a right "to kill millions of French people" after a deadly attack in France sparking widespread anger and prompting Twitter to delete his post.

However Dr Mahathir in his blog today explained his social media posting has been taken out of context and misrepresented.
