KUCHING: Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd has been awarded a contract to provide maintenance, construction and modification services to Petroliam Nasional Bhd’s (Petronas) onshore facilities in Bintulu and Miri, Sarawak.

The contract involves Package D (Bintulu-Sarawak Gas) and Package E (Miri-Sarawak Oil) onshore facilities in Miri Crude Oil Terminal and Asam Paya onshore facility as well as Bintulu integrated facilities.

“Serba Dinamik will provide all the supervision, procedures, labour, prefabrication and erection, materials, equipment, facilities including transport to the point of embarkation, logistics and all other related services that are necessary to complete the onshore maintenance, construction and modification services,” said the company in a statement.

The contract, effective Dec 12, 2018, is for three years, with an option for extension of two years. It was signed by wholly owned Serba Dinamik Sdn Bhd (SDSB) and Petronas subsidiary, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd.

The signatories were SDSB managing director Datuk Awang Daud Awang Putera and vice-president, supply chain management, Mohd Izham Abdullah and Petronas vice-president, group procurement project delivery and technology, Samsudin Miskon, and head procurement, group procurement project delivery and technology, Noor Mohamad Taj Mohammed.

Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, Petronas president and group chief executive officer Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin and Serba Dinamik group CEO Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah witnessed the event.

According to Johari, the contract secured by Serba Dinamik is worth about RM330mil.

Mohd Abdul Karim said the contract award by Petronas reflected Serba Dinamik’s good track record, which showed the quality of work and timely delivery without compromising on safety.

He said Serba Dinamik had committed an investment of RM220mil in setting up an integrated energy hub on 30ha in Bintulu near the Malaysian Liquified Natural Gas plant.

The proposed energy hub, upon completion, would have state-of-the-art facilities for the maintenance of gas turbines, fabrication facilities for structure and piping works.

As an international energy services group, Mohd Abdul Karim invites Sarawak contractors and suppliers in the oil and gas industry to join Serba Dinamik in its international mission.

At the event, Serba Dinamik announced the appointment of two local oil and gas service and equipment companies under the Petronas VDPx programme.

The two companies are Ropetech Sdn Bhd and Eastwind Solutions Sdn Bhd. They will receive guidance and mentorship from Serba Dinamik and undergo capability-building programmes designed and monitored by Petronas.

The VDPx is the spinoff of Petronas’ existing vendor development programme (VDP), which empowers and upskills local companies to increase their competitiveness in the open market.

Wan Zulkiflee said Serba Dinamik was among the first companies selected for Petronas VDP in 1997.

He is confident that Serba Dinamik would help to nurture the two companies into strong and competitive service providers in the oil and gas industry.

Mohd Abdul Karim said SerbaDinamik would appoint more companies under the VDPx.

Johari said state-owned Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (Petros) could collaborate with Petronas to explore new areas of works in the oil and gas industry in Sarawak.

“We can expand our participation in the oil and gas industry. We are still in negotiation with Petronas to find ways and means so that we can solve our problems,” he added.
