Cyberjaya receives gold rating in inaugural smart township certification
KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 19): Cyberjaya was rated gold under the newly introduced Smart Township 2025 Certificate of Recognition, becoming the first city in Malaysia to receive the honour.
“This milestone is a proud moment for all of us at Cyberview and a testament to the collective effort driving Cyberjaya’s growth. While this recognition is meaningful, what truly matters are the real impacts – creating opportunities, enhancing liveability and driving innovation that fuels national progress,” said Cyberview chief executive officer Kamarul Ariffin Abdul Samad in a press statement on Nov 14.
Cyberview Sdn Bhd, the tech hub developer of Cyberjaya, is also the first government-linked company (GLC) to receive the rating under the Malaysia Smart City Rating Programme by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), delivered through PLANMalaysia.
The recognition was presented to Kamarul by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof during the National Level World Urban Planning Day 2025 celebration at Perbadanan Putrajaya on Oct 28.
Also present were Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming, Deputy Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu, and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
Cyberjaya’s submission was assessed under the Penarafan Perbandaran Pintar (Smart Township Rating) framework, which aligns with international benchmarks such as MS ISO 37122:2019 and evaluates smart city performance across 36 indicators.
Key initiatives that contributed to the gold rating include AI-powered environmental sensors, Malaysia’s first moveable EV charging station, micro-mobility services, e-payment systems and digital upskilling for start-ups through the Cyberview Living Lab programmes.
Cyberview said it will continue its role in fostering an inclusive and sustainable ecosystem in Cyberjaya, in support of the Smart Nation 2040 vision.
