KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar, supported by growing expectations of a US interest rate cut amid weakening consumer confidence and concerns over higher prices from escalating tariffs.

At 8am, the local currency appreciated to 4.2060/2265 compared with Tuesday's close of 4.2160/2210.
