KUALA LUMPUR (June 1): As innovation speeds into the future, the dawn of new technologies like generative AI continues to sprout more and more ethical grey areas. Mediha Mahmood, CEO of the Communications and Multimedia Content Forum, is leading the charge in the country to ensure regulation and culture are able to shift and adapt to these new developments without compromising our core human principles of dignity and accountability.
She speaks on the industry forum’s revamp of its content code (a collection of best practices and guidelines for all players within the content ecosystem) and the importance of being mindful and compassionate online.
Strength, growth and empathy converge in Cartier’s Expo 2025 Osaka Women’s Pavilion, a thoughtfully designed space anchored around the stories of author Yoshimoto Banana, activist Emtithal Mahmour and climate advocate Xiye Bastida, created to inspire solidarity and initiate conversation about the sobering reality of gender equality today. Alongside the pavilion’s opening ceremony, the Cartier Women’s Initiative honoured nine of its 2025 Impact Awardees, former fellows whose ventures have significantly scaled their missions over time.
Datuk Dr Hartini Zainudin began rescuing unwanted newborns in 2005. Spending weekends scurrying to pick up dumped babies and infants about to be sold in hospitals is a solemn, painful duty, but one she performs with strength and the unfaltering belief in providing a warm, loving future for these foundlings. Her bilingual book of poems, titled The Foundling tells the positive fates of these children, complemented by uplifting illustrations and messages of hope despite origins of uncertainty.
