KUALA LUMPUR: Proton Holdings Bhd (Proton) has launched its first mild-hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV) model, X90, today in conjunction with the company's 40th anniversary.
This marks Proton's entry into the new energy vehicle (NEV) market.
X90 is the national automaker's third sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the X series model line-up with the price tag from RM123,800 to RM152,800.
The X90 was Proton's first step
towards executing the new NEV strategy, its chairman Datuk Seri Syed Faisal Albar said at the X90 launch by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim here today.
"There are many more products in the pipeline as Proton looks to grow our
presence in this exciting new market segment," Syed Faisal added.
The X90 comprises four variants: Standard Executive, Premium and Flagship with seven seater configuration.
The on-the-road price before insurance in Peninsular Malaysia for Standard starts from RM123,800. For the executive variant, the price begins at RM130,800
Premium variant is priced at RM144,800 while the flagship variant starts at RM152,800
All X90 models are run on the new mild-hybrid setup which pairs a 48V Electric Motor Synergy system with the 1.5L TGDi engine and a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
X90 also featured three new class safety systems that consisted of rear collision warning, traffic sign information and rear cross traffic alert.
