Minimal to no impact from Thailand casino resort :) Probably we can recalled back the same fear before Singapore's integrated resorts were opened back in 2010 - Genting Malaysia will be impacted. Well, more than 10 years now and there is literally no impact. It will be the same for Thailand casino resort. This is due to the demographic of the visitors. Genting Malaysia's visitors are mostly locals; > 80% perhaps.
However, it will not be the same for Singapore's integrated resorts. Singapore's integrated resorts relies heavily on foreign tourists / visitors. Thailand's integrated resorts will probably have an impact to Genting Singapore. Nevertheless, GenS is going through RWS 2.0 upgrades and my thought is that GenS will have to bid for Thailand's integrated resort :) Both RWS 2.0 upgrades and a successful bid for Thailand's integrated resort will "neutralize" the impact.
market will always find reason to make a stock up or down .. so before Thai completion they will push up.. after that will use Thai casino as excuse to push down the share price.. but no worry still long way to go xD 2029
still too early to conclude, tempura fish. We will have a clearer picture by the end of Nov as the next review is in Dec'24. There are rules to the index series instead of just by position. For now, I would say QL and GenM are the bottom two which is very near to triggering one of the rule - fallen to 36th and below. Both of these two are currently at 32 and 33 respectively as of today. And GenM Q3 results will be released in Nov too. Current market sentiment is weak and KLCI component index will be impacted too. Things can still change drastically and just enjoy the volatility from now until then :)
